Russ and I chat about the now-on-streaming WB movie “The Flash” which the time of recording our conversation, the film was still was puttering around theaters.
The film by all measures was unfortunately a financial bomb. Disney’s Elemental and Scream 6 both are almost certainly going to gross more than the $220 million WB film. But, both Russ and I hate the internet’s obsession with budgets and profits when talking about movies so let’s talk about the MOVIE.
[SPOILERS]
Ugh. Russ and I disagree a bit on the level of bad, (listen to the episode for more on that) but I found the movie dreadful as a whole and in its parts.
The only interesting new character was killed off, the CG ranged from passable to downright offensive to the legacy of the characters it was trying to honor, other Barry tried desperately to be funny but was truly just… terrible. I could go on, but we did… in the episode.
My main issue with The Flash, and Justice League for that matter was the waste of potential. Bringing back Keaton’s Batman was a fantastic idea but throwing away its possibilities in this script was just depressing. All the ideas that were good in this film are ones that likely will never return as they have this weight around their neck.
Anyway, listen to Russ and I chat about the film and we’ll have another episode - the back half of this conversation coming soon where we discuss other issues in movies and TV.
